The Florida Department of Health regulates all public pools and bathing places, as defined in Chapter 64E-9 of the Florida Administrative Code. This regulation is considered a significant factor in the prevention of disease, sanitary nuisances, and accidents.  Each location is inspected twice a year.

All proposed new construction and modifications to existing public pools require approval from the Florida Department of Health. Permits are valid from July 1st through June 30th. These permits must be applied for and renewed annually.
