A Registered Dental Hygienist visits all nine public elementary schools during the year to apply protective sealants that prevent decay on the teeth of children whose parents have approved the services. Children are also taught how to properly clean their teeth.

This service is provided to the community at no charge to parents and is available to all children in public elementary schools in Highlands County.

Dental Outreach

Dental staff provide education on oral hygiene, such as brushing, flossing, safety and what a dental emergency means, to adults and children at outreach events and locations, such as schools and health fairs. The Florida Department of Health in Highlands County partners with the school district to provide dental clinics for exams and sealants to all public elementary school children.
