Group care facilities are regulated and licensed by other state agencies, such as the Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration, and the U.S. Department of Education. However, the local health department may perform routine health and safety inspections at the request of the facility or their licensing agency.
These inspections would look at:
- Housekeeping
- Adequate lighting
- Beds/Bedding
- Water supply and temperature
- Liquid and solid waste
- Sanitary facilites
- Outdoor area and equipment
- Indoor equipment and furnishings
- Proper food storage and temperature
